ABOUT BOIT: click here to be re-directed to BOIT on Youtube
Welcome! Boit (Bet On It) is a video editing competition where editors from all over the world battle against each other in creative challenges. Taking place mostly on YouTube where challenges are posted and entries accepted and judged, the website is an important tool where you could find all the reviews, awards and infos about the challenges.
BOIT started its first season on January 14, 2010 from an idea of XTheJuliespikelover. We are currently at the end of the second season and i would like to thank my amazing co-judges Tenesha aka TheKg2002 and Isa aka Bmkenny for the hard work and passion shown for this competition. Obviously the three of us would also like to thank the editors who entered this or the previous edition for their passion for the video editing and the inspiration shown trough their entries. Following after some great competitions that happened around YouTube in these years we believe BOIT as been able to occupy an unique spot due its creative output. Also, we are just one of the two competitions on YouTube that works on a website base and cares about reviews and awards. We believe it is important for a competition not only to have the results, but to explain them and give something more than a 'you passed - you didn't'. Reviews helps the editors who passed the round to understand the best of their entry, as well as good criticism that can help them improve. Awards recognize the amazing work done by 3 editors, each round, basing on the favorite of each judge for that particular round. Obviously we are human, but if there is something that we think BOIT sticked out for, is the honesty in the judging process as well as the care. We literally re-watch the entries a million times and we grade them basing ourselves to 1) how well the goal of the challenge was tackled 2) Song choice 3)Editing 4)Voiceovers, Effects 5)Creativity. In each challenge every one of these points has more or less weight. But beside that there has never been a weight for friendships, convenience or subscribers importance. We judge the entries. Anything else. All the challenges are well-thought trough and there is a great deal of late nights and difficult judging and maintenance in BOIT. Some challenges change every season, other sticks. However, we try to deliver as various and different content as possible to the editors; many editors of the first season entered the second one as well and this makes us proud. We encourage everyone to give it try. BOIT is gonna to stick here for a lot of time so take your chance! | UPDATES:March 12: We are currently judging and setting everything to be ready for the winner announcement. Please understand that it will take a while. Judging has been really hard. This season sees three amazing finalists for us to look up to. Apart from the final winner, the other two finalists will still have a review that will cover the last entry as well as the general considerations of the judges for all the time this season ran. Stay tuned! January 22th: 'Storytelling' round is closed. It was the last round where we would give a theme and adequate guidelines. The next one will be the final, with only 3 editors left and we are currently judging the entries. It will be very hard to let 2 editors go. The results shouldn't take much longer. December 10th: The results are finally posted along with the reviews as usual. From this round on there will be no awards because we are very close to the end and few editors remained. However, reviews will stick till the very end. Congratualtions to everyone who passed! We had STUNNING entries for this round, it was insanely hard to judge! December 7th: The results for the 4th challenge will be updated shortly. Judging has been very difficult for this challenge and we needed extra time. Only 6 people will go through the next round! November 3rd: WOW! Weebly.com emailed us about the great traffic amount BOIT website has made! In only two days since the website opening we reached more than 522 visitors! (click on the image below to view it full size). November 3d: BOIT Youtube channel just reached 1,000 subscribers! Thank you very much you guys, it is a real accomplishment for a competition to see that much of consideration. It is also wonderful to notice that many subscribers are editors and people in general that never participated to BOIT but love to follow the competition! Also, editors that didn't pass the previous rounds still are following us. It's just great. Thank you all! November 1st: Updates in the 'season two' section about the 'fairytale vs reality' challenge. Be sure to read them since they relate to the most of the questions we got so far! October 31th: A whole new website! Amazing new features and much more interactivity. It's still under construction but we hope you like what we've done so far. Let us know with the pool above! If we get enough votes we may think of using polls as a regular basis to ask you for your opinion about the challenges and other features so that we can improve BOIT everyday! September 15th: From now on we won't give reviews to the editors who didn't pass the rounds anymore. Since today we always tried to give our best and satisfy every request but please understand that this is very hard work from us and we cannot possibly review every single video. Just for this season we got 300 entries on the audition round and if everyone asks for the reviews, it's impossible. We understand you'd like to have reviews and we congratulate to everyone for being so nice and such good sports when it comes to good criticism but we hope you understand our decision and we very much hope to see the editors who didn't pass for the next season! (We will get back to the people who asked for reviews today asap, after that this won't be possible anymore). Thank you. September 12th: We want to apologize for the delay of the results. We try the best we can to give you the results as soon as possible for every round, but sometimes it may happen to be a little late. This round was really hard to judge and we had some personal problems as well. We are currently finishing to set up the website so hopefully everything will be ready today, tomorrow at max. Thank you for your patience. July 30th: UPDATE ABOUT THE SECOND CHALLENGE - After a lot of talking, the judges decided to extend the deadline for few days because some people have been negatively affected by Irene. This is a major issue, so we wish the best to everyone who is close to the dangerous areas and we more certainly will give few extra days. On this note, however, we would like to point out that this, for obvious reasons, is an extraordinary circumstance and in no other situation we will allow an extension with such short notice. As the rules states we can give an extension if it is told at least 5 days before the deadline and for important problems. So we would like to advice the editors to try to have their entries rendered before the very last minute of every challenge deadline so that that can be sure to make it before the deadline. That been said we wish everyone good luck, only 5 entries missed to entry and we hope these extra days will help these people that are dealing with the consequences Irene is bringing in their hometowns. June 29th: The Second challenge is now being posted on YouTube. For every information relate to the website or ask us anything in a comment or pm. Good Luck! June 19th: The first challenge 'One Effect' is now officially closed. The results will be up very soon. Once they do check the season two section to see the reviews and awards and the current round section to see what's next! April 16th: The first challenge is now posted. You can see the guidelines and tips on the 'current roun s2' section. Good luck! April 14th: The results of the audition round are now posted! Congratulations to everyone and thank you for entering! April 8th: The audition round for season 2 is officially closed. We are currently in the process of judging but we appreciated that all of you entered. We will be posting the results soon and then the first challenge. Thanks guys and good luck! |
