Shanice12OTH: The song choice was one of the best elements of your entry. It is fitting to the atmosphere, to the form of the video used and easily adaptable to effective editing. The guidelines of the challenge were followed pretty well, and you stayed enough into the barriers of the originality of the fairytale's features. The use of the witch as turning Eric into a beast was well played. The sense of terror that comes after the witch spell, watching Eric's confused and scared face played well to your advantage. The following clips, after the spell, told the story chronologically, very well. However, originality is not very much pronounced. For example, the text, trailer-ish form, very much used for this round, could have been, at least, modified somehow. The text, again, are pretty cliché and expected. The uses of flashes and velocity is good; the scene of Sookie (dreaming) in the corridor, and later, in front of Eric really feels like 'the beauty' that accept the beast as something different that a beast itself. Eric doesn't have the usual beast characteristics, as you mentioned in the description; however, your editing and the song crescendos helped greatly into transferring the feeling of a "beastly eric". The zooming effects are very well used. The end very much intrigue the viewer. Congratulations!
Estaaaas: Congratulations for going to the next round! Your entry was discussed some because of the change of the fairytale's witch (in old woman) and that you instead represented as a Snow White friend. It was very risky, we struggled a lot deciding if accepting it or not. At the end, the scoring of the points was lessen, but the overall level of your entry allowed you to pass. Your entry has many strong points; first of all we strongly appreciated the structure of the video itself. Almost everybody went for trailer-ish forms with texts along the way with the same phrases according to the fandom chosen. You instead, delivered something completely different. Distancing yourself from the trailer form, you focused on a specific scene and you were still able to engage greatly the viewer's attentions. Originality and a different way of the using the texts. Writing the voiceovers was a good element; considering the one-scene-focus- choice, texts unable you to break from the scene, still maintaining the sense and the atmosphere. The song choice was very good and so it was the scene manipulation. The use of scratchy animations is, perhaps, very cliché for this song, and it actually take something away from the video, graphically speaking. There was no need for them. The manipulation of the apple's basket is good; if you stop the frame you can see it's clearly a manip, but as the video goes it isn't noticeable and, instead, it's a very good element you brought to the scene. Considering the changes you already made to the fairytale, it was a good call to include little details that bring the story back in. The whole entry has this sense of terror, expectations and the viewer is just glued to the screen. 1:10 till the end is absolutely great.
ForeverFaraday: You were one of the very few who didn't use a trailer form and we appreciated the effort and the originality into analyzing the story and creating it step by step. The song choice was highly unexpected, but, incredibly, it works well with the flow of the entry. Everyone used epic, instrumental, pieces and you changed the rules! The original concept was original and surprising as well; True blood as Cinderella? Definitely something different than usual. The beginning set the story right away with Sookie cleaning floors and serving tables. Few things aren't very understandable without the help of the description such as Eric as the prince announcing the ball through tv. However, it was a very original element and a successful attempt into modernize the story. It's not clear Sophie Ann is the other stepsister cause we never see her with Sookie or with Jessica. Bill as the stepfather was, instead, well played and the voiceover "Sookie to your room", was totally fitting. The whole entry is filled with little details such as the palace, the clock while Sookie is sent back to her room, etc, that gave the story so much more emphasis. The use of Sookie's fairy god mother was brilliant. After understanding Sophie Ann as the other stepsister, the annoyed and "mean" looks she depicts are very well used while Sookie and Eric meets and fall in love. Generally, your entry was original, well constructed and well edited. Congratulations!

Congratulations on making it to the next round! We really enjoyed what you did in this challenge. For your entry, you chose to show us your interpretation of Hansel and Gretel with the fandom Supernatural. We must say, you really made the story work, especially when showing the "siblings" aspect of the fairy tale. The text and cloud titles were a nice touch to the video overall and it definitely gave off that "fairy tale" feel but as well as that, you gave off a horror appeal to your entry, which we are glad you were able to do. All of your manipulations were very believable and followed the basic outline of your tale. The voiceovers and scene choices were nicely selected and made us believe for the duration of the video that Sam and Dean were a real version of Hansel and Gretel, as well as made it easy to follow what was happening without having to read the tale first. The effects were nicely done without detracting from the story that you were showing, such as the horror-esque sound effects and the negative effect at 1:03. We also felt the coloring of the video was nicely done. It was clever how you first started off with a sunny and bright coloring when the tone of the tale starts out as innocent and then switch to the darker coloring when the the story takes a darker turn. Overall, great job and good luck in the next round!

Well done on your entry this round! You chose to use Snow White as your fairy tale and we have to say, you definitely made it obvious for us at the beginning of your entry, which is a good thing. We really enjoyed how your introduced your version of Snow White. The text and close ups of Susan were nicely done and the music choice worked really well for your entry. Although your video lacked voiceovers, we were still able to follow what was happening as the story progressed. The simple coloring and editing were actually nice, because we were able to focus on the manipulations you created, which were well thought out. For instance, when you showed Lucy, or the Evil Queen, as she asked the mirror who was the fairest at 0:41. Your scene choices throughout really helped to add details to your entry, as gave us more to work with in understanding what was happening. We were happy to see that you included the dwarves for this tale, as well as the disguising of the Evil Queen. Good details and good following of the story. All in all, we enjoyed your entry and we congratulate you on passing this round!

First off, we really enjoyed your entry! You chose to show us The Little Red Riding Hood in your entry with the fandom True Blood. Before watching your entry, we were a bit skeptical because it felt as if you were taking the easy way out, by taking advantage of all the "wolves" on the show. However, we are very happy to say that you took away any doubt we had in the most clever way. The beginning of the video was a nice way of introducing the story as well as allowing the viewers to see who will be playing Miss Little Red Riding Hood and who would be playing the big bad wolf. Speaking of the big bad wolf, we were very surprised to see that Bill would be playing the part, seeing as he is a vampire on the show. Although surprised, we were able to believe every manipulation that you threw our way because of how well they intertwined together, as if they were truly real. For instance, the "wolf" eye effect at 0:21, the Sookie attacked scene at 1:20, and the transformation of Bill at 1:24. The music choices were used very well, especially when you shifted from the instrumental piece to the second song to be introduced. It helped give the effect of shifting from mysterious and spooky, to full on action. The voiceover manipulations were perfect throughout the video and the "creepy forest" titles and text that you used were a great touch to the overall feel of your video. We highly enjoyed everything you did with your entry and we congratulate you on a job well done!
